Patti graduated as a qualified Registered Massage Therapist from Elm Crest College in 2008, with a focus on prenatal massage and care. She has been practising as an RMT since, and from the beginning has structured her practice around female health.
Patti has continued to educate herself on new developments in her field of expertise, and is dedicated to excellence in her practice and to a particular passion: women’s complementary health care. Her focus on women’s health has grown during her career, with ongoing continuing education courses on Doula training, Breast Massage, Lactation Education, Infant Massage, and Pre/Postpartum fitness education. Patti looks forward to learning more and adding to her repertoire of available therapies.
She has a special interest in massage therapy for pelvic pain and abdominal discomfort; specifically, Mercier Therapy. A pelvic/abdominal massage technique, Mercier Therapy decreases adhesions and scar tissue around the pelvic organs, increasing blood flow and decreasing tension and or pain. It can also help with some fertility issues, pelvic pain, and postpartum recovery.
Patti enjoys working with women in pregnancy, and is a firm believer in post-delivery follow-up massage therapy. Mothers gain tremendous benefits from ongoing massage therapy treatment, and can bring the new baby too! Massaging with the baby on the table also is definitely acceptable (baby recommended to be 4 months or under). Birth is an amazing experience but also exhausting—as is being a new parent—so massage treatment and techniques are essential to the transition, both physically and emotionally.
Away from the clinic, Patti enjoys getting out and walking around the city, listening to live music with her partner, painting, and reading.
